Simple sewing machine maintenance tips for long life
Easy day-to-day care tips from our Rajkot service team to keep your sewing machine running smoothly for many years.

Most sewing machine problems we see at our Rajkot workshop are not really problems with the machine. They come from small things that get skipped over time. A bit of regular care goes a long way, and none of it is complicated. Here are the habits we suggest to every customer who buys a Selene machine from us.
1. Clean the lint every day
After a full day of stitching, open the bobbin area and brush out the lint and thread bits. It takes a minute or two. Lint sitting under the bobbin case is one of the most common reasons for skipped stitches and uneven tension.
2. Oil only where the manual tells you
Modern machines need just a small drop of proper sewing machine oil at the marked points, usually once a week for regular users. Do not use cooking oil, hair oil or motor oil. They get sticky over time and slowly damage the moving parts. If you are not sure where to oil, your dealer can show you in two minutes.
3. Change the needle more often than you think
A bent or blunt needle is behind a lot of broken threads and bad stitches. Change the needle after every full day or two of stitching, and always change it when you switch from a light fabric to a heavy one. Needles are cheap; the time you save in repairs is not.
4. Keep it covered when not in use
Dust is the slow, silent reason machines start feeling rough. When the machine is idle, keep the cover on. In a busy shop with cutting and pressing nearby, this matters even more.
5. Get it serviced once a year
Once a year, take the machine to your nearest dealer for a proper check up. They will clean the inside, set the timing, check the belt and tension, and catch small issues before they become big ones. For industrial machines running full shifts, a service every six months is a better idea.
Treat the machine well and it will return the favour. We still see Parmar machines from the 1990s running in shops around Gujarat, and the only reason is small, regular care.
